Field C was treated with sludge in September 2003 and was the focus of the research during autumn/winter 2003/2004. A strip was left untreated to act as a control.

The field is bounded on two sides by tracks and on the other by ditches. Two ponds are situated within the field one of which is permanent throughout the year. Click here for a plan of the field.
