Course and Experiment Instructions for investigators/tutorsHomepageWelcome!Welcome to Mick Short's introductory stylistics course experiment. The experiment involves comparing student response to two complementary versions of the course: a traditional seminar/lecture-based course, and a WWW-based course (based on the former). The experiment involves two groups of students, each of which will experience one version of the course. Student reactions to the two versions will be compared via questionnaires, interviews and focus group discussions. Student performance in coursework and/or examination will also be compared. After the experiment has been piloted during the academic year 2002/3, both versions will be available to other HE institutions in the UK and overseas who wish to run an experiment parallel to the experiment being undertaken at Lancaster. The following pages explain the experiment in more detail, before describing what we'd expect from other institutions mirroring the Lancaster investigation. We then highlight the help that we will give, and the materials that we make available to help you undertake the experiment. A Microsoft Word document of these tutor pages is also available.
