Catchment Modelling

Modelling at the catchment scale using INCA-P will back-up the physical-basis of the nutrient export risk matrix, but will also allow a catchment-wide assessment of nutrient loading by being sensitive to a range of land uses that are exporting nutrient and by reflecting the within channel nutrient cycling processes. This tool gives insight into the total loading of catchments and can evaluate the realistic land bank capacity over larger catchment areas. This will thus influence sludge dispersal strategies across larger regions.

More information on INCA (Integrated Nitrogen in Catchments) can be found on the website of the Aquatic Environments Research Centre at the University of Reading. The INCA model is available FREE of charge from this website.
