Travel and Accommodation

University Map

We have made provisional block bookings in Grasmere. These will be held until 25th March. After that you have to find your own accommodation and potentially transport. The Lake District is very popular in the summer, so book as soon as you can.

You might wish to stay in the Lakes until Sunday.

Lancaster House Hotel - This 4*hotel is proximate to the university. Guests staying in the hotel will have free access to the leisure club with pool, sauna and gym throughout their stay.

Travel

Rail - the train from London Euston to Lancaster is 2 hours 30 minutes, and from Manchester International Airport 1 hour 15 mins. Return journey tickets off-peak are usually the cheapest choice. You can check train times and book your rail tickets through National Rail or thetrainline.com

Train travel from Paris/Brussels is also possible by switching in London from St Pancras International to Euston (10 minute walk). There are hourly trains from Euston to Lancaster (the West Coast Mainline).

Air travel - we suggest arrival into Manchester Airport as there are trains direct to Lancaster rail station from there. Although Liverpool John Lennon Airportoffers budget airline travel the rail links are less frequent and involve changes of bus and train.

Once in Lancaster you can take a taxi to your accommodation or there is a direct bus - X1 - from the rail station at regular intervals. The bus stop at the university is in the underpass and it is a 5-minute walk to Lancaster House hotel. Campus Map

Should you be driving to the conference here's how to get to Lancaster University. There is free car parking at the hotel.
