The course examines central issues in political theory concerning the environment.

By the end of the course students should have developed and understanding and critical perspective on some of the following issues:

the compatibility of liberalism with environmentalism,
the appeal to and problems with liberal market solutions to environmental problems,
different models of democracy and their role in environmental policy making,
the appeal to justice and equality within and between different generations in environmental politics, and debates around the politics of wilderness.
