The University declared a climate emergency in 2020 and we are developing an ambitious strategy to help us achieve our goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2035. Our Energy and Utilities plan sets out how we will achieve our Scope 1 and Scope 2 net zero carbon emission target of 2030.

Our Sustainability Plan, sets out how we are shifting our focus from traditional approaches to sustainability management and communication, to more inclusive, accessible and broader engagement across our university community.

This approach is governed by the Climate Emergency and Sustainability Group, made up of senior leaders from across the University who discuss, review and approve strategic and operational sustainability activities (such as those that arise within faculty or departmental sustainability working groups).
