New Head of Sustainability
Dr Georgiana Allison has recently joined Lancaster University as the new Head of Sustainability.
Georgiana will lead on achieving the university's strategic aim of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2035 and the Sustainability Team in continuing to promote sustainability in all its forms across the university activities.
Originally from Lancaster, Georgiana returns from a period working in Leeds where she was most recently a Lecturer in Sustainability at the University of Leeds and before that, as a Senior Lecturer in Sustainability and Construction at Leeds Beckett University.
Before taking up teaching and research roles, Georgiana held a variety of sustainability management positions in the private and public sectors working with a wide range of stakeholders. Georgiana stated; “I am delighted to join the university at such an exciting but critical time for sustainability within the sector. So much fantastic work has already been done and I hope that my skills and experience, particularly in student engagement, can help to develop and broaden this further. On a more personal note, it’s wonderful returning home to Lancaster twenty years after crossing the Pennine border”
Professor Simon Guy, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Global for Sustainability stated: “We’re delighted to welcome Georgiana to Lancaster. Sustainability is a key strategic priority for the University here and it’s a real boon to recruit such a knowledgeable professional colleague with wide sector experience, to help progress our work and to provide extra momentum. Georgiana’s expertise in sustainability, with a strong academic and student focus, twinned with her technical expertise, made her a very impressive candidate and we’re confident she will make a very significant contribution to our plans.”
