Here’s what you can get involved with in Lent term:
ECOChallenge
Passionate to explore, reframe and identify solutions for change, to real and pressing environmental challenges on campus? Join the inter-collegiate ECO Challenge! Sign up here by 30/01 - you could win a share of £500!
ECOWild
Join an ECOWild session - Immerse yourself in the natural world through wildlife observation and mindful activities. Gain practical experience and knowledge of nature restoration work through restoring local ecosystems.
Our weekly sessions enhance biodiveristy on campus and take place on:
- Wednesdays in Weeks 2/4/6/8 (12.30 - 16:00) sessions will be led by the Grounds Team. Activities include tree planting, habitat hedge creation and invasive species removal.
- Fridays in Weeks 3/5/7/9/10 (09:30 – 13:00). Activities include Forrest Hills tree maintenance, wellbeing sessions and practical conservation.
All are welcome and no experience is required... If you are only able to come to part of the session, let us know by emailing green@lancaster.ac.uk in advance or by messaging the Instagram.

ECOWild Fieldtrips
Sign up to ECOWild fieldtrips. In Week 1 there is Freshwater Citizen Science Training which you can sign up to now! Plus, Saturday field trips collaborating with Eden Project Morecambe (WK2), Ribble Rivers Trust (WK 7) and Restoring Hardknott Forrest (WK 8), keep an eye out on the events feed to sign up for these.
Other Opportunities to take the Lead...
If you are keen to take your journey with the sustainability agenda to the next level, why not consider one of our opportunities to lead and define the future of Green Lancaster?
In July 2024, we’ll be running our next annual ‘Sustainability and Leadership’, week-long programme based in Switzerland. Participants apply via a competitive process to be selected to join the 2024 cohort. Find out more at the info session on 22nd Feb.
On Thursday 15th February, we have our annual ‘Green Lancaster Conference’. This will provide you with the opportunity to shape our next strategic plan, priorities and project to summer 2027!
We will also be recruiting student leaders to oversee our hugely popular ‘Don’t Ditch It’ project for 2024. As a supervisor on this project you’ll work at the forefront of the circular economy and collaborate with a range of charities and organisations. Look out for the supervisor jobs opening for applications very soon!
