A site visit to Lancaster University wind turbine at Hazelrigg Field Station, with a presentation and discussion on its construction and operation.

Lancaster University wind turbine was completed in 2012 and has made a significant contribution to reducing the carbon emissions of the University since becoming operational. In this site visit to the wind turbine, an overview of the construction process, operational issues and how the turbine contributes to reducing carbon emissions as part of the University Carbon Management Plan will be delivered by Jon Mills, Environment Manager.

Transport to Hazelrigg will be provided by minibus; spaces are therefore limited and must be booked in advance. Meet outside University House adjacent to HR building. Please bring coat if wet, and wear suitable outdoor shoes.

This event is part of the COP26@ Lancaster University Festival, which aims to spark debate and showcase our leading specialists and research relating to climate change in the run-up to the United Nation’s COP26 in Glasgow. The week-long COP26@ Lancaster University Festival takes place from Wednesday 20th October to Wednesday 27th October 2021.
