A new University subsidy has been introduced for 2023-24 on the Stagecoach ‘Bay Flexi’ carnet mobile app bus tickets. They are available to purchase on the Online Store. Casual / PGR teaching staff can now qualify for a limited amount of Bay Flexi.
Bay Flexi 10
10 days of bus commuting for £12 (worth £38.50). (Some availability for casual / PGR teaching staff - see Terms and Conditions).
Bay Flexi 20
20 days of bus commuting for £24 (worth £77). (Some availability for certain casual / PGR teaching staff - see Terms and Conditions).

From 17th January 2024, casual / PGR teaching staff can qualify for certain subsidised Bay Flexi products as follows:
- Casual / PGA teaching staff who are contracted to work for the University between 1 and 189 hours per annum (<0.1 FTE) are eligible to purchase 1 x Bay Flexi 10 ticket per academic year.*
- Casual / PGA teaching staff who are contracted to work for the University 190 hours or more per annum (>0.1 FTE) are eligible to purchase 1 x Bay Flexi 20, or up to 2 x Bay Flexi 10 tickets per academic year.*
Casual staff cannot qualify for the Bay Flexi 30 or Bay Flexi 50 options.
Staff are to read the updated Staff Bay Flexi Terms and Conditions, before submitting an order through the Online Store for the relevant Bay Flexi product, using the link provided on the website.
*Casual / PGA teaching staff should check their total contracted hours over the year (either over 30 weeks or 52 weeks) before submitting an order. Campus residents, Honorary / visiting staff, External Examiners, Consultants, ERS staff and zero-hour staff do not qualify so these should not apply.
Find out more information on the Stagecoach Bus App and their Privacy Policy.
To use the subsidised Bay Flexi products your Stagecoach App account must be registered to your Lancaster University email address.
Orders for the Bay Flexi subsidised bus tickets are via the Online Store.
Please read the information carefully, including the full Staff Bay Flexi Terms and Conditions (updated January 2024) before you place an order. Please also ensure, before you place your order, that you have the Stagecoach Bus App on your smart phone and that your Stagecoach App account is registered to your Lancaster University email address.
Bay Flexi ticket users are recommended to purchase these in advance for the term or year ahead to reduce administration.
Limited eligibility applies to casual staff (see above).
Substantive salaried staff can combine products into one single order to obtain your desired amount of subsidised bus travel days. For example, for 100 days of bus travel, such staff should place an order for 2 x Bay Flexi 50. For 70 days of bus travel you should place a single order for 1 x Bay Flexi 50 with 1 x Bay Flexi 20.
