woman looking at art

Your creative community

Your home and the Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts sits as part of a long-established and ever-growing independent city culture.

Finding your people

You’ll become part of a city filled with theatre, film, literature, art, and music with many large venues but also time and space for smaller showcases, performances, and exhibitions at cafés, pubs and pop-up spaces. At Lancaster you'll not only experience art and culture, but you'll be part of it too.

Leonie Robertshaw, BA Fine Art

I’ve been lucky enough to participate in a student run extra-curricular society which organises exhibitions for art students at professional galleries and creative spaces. It is called Up North Arts (UNA) and they have planned exhibits in Lancaster and also at the Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool. It’s been a great opportunity to show my work in public. I’ve also exhibited in the Storey in central Lancaster, which is a creative hub that offers activities and opportunities for artists to get involved with.
