Hi, I'm Rebecca.
I'm Nikita.
My name is Gaida.
And I'm a fourth-year Marketing Management student, a second-year Marketing and Design, second-year Marketing Management student.
While Marketing Me is a module essentially designed to help you become more employable, it is also a module to help your personal growth. What are your interests? What do you want to do? These questions will all be approached carefully. The module is designed to ease you into that career mindset but with baby steps, so a LinkedIn account a CV. Some of you may already have one, but now is the time to really make use of it and build your network.
Marketing Me has helped me market myself in a very competitive job market. As much as it's important to market products and services, it's equally important to market ourselves.
It helped me to build my CV and give some proper tips on how to write cover letters and so on, but most importantly, it's really important to straight away start thinking about what else is there besides my studies and what else can I do in my chosen field so that I would improve and of course, it encouraged me not to waste time and don't miss the opportunities.
I really enjoyed Marketing Me because of the projects and challenges; so for example, the vision board challenge and the sustainability challenge we had last year were really fun for me.
In particular I enjoyed all the challenges that were given. They would encourage you to explore yourself more and find out your strengths and maybe some unique traits that would make you stand out from the crowd and make you different.
One of my highlights of the Marketing Me programme was delivering an elevator pitch. As scary as it was, I developed so many skills through delivering that pitch, and it's great to introduce yourself so concisely in a business world so without that, I don't know how I would have introduced myself on my placement year.
I recommend it for all the challenges and exciting tasks.
It's one module where you're really sort of pushed to show and be your authentic self but also in a professional way.
I would really recommend the Marketing Me programme to all students. I think it's a fantastic personalised career service. You also have the chance to win Marketing Me Student of the Year, which I won in 2019, so that's a great addition to your CV.
Marketing Me team is actually a very, very welcoming and friendly group of people that would help you in any way possible.
Number one, be yourself. You get this a lot, but it's true - be yourself. Number two, be nice. Number three, clean your room.
Don't get stuck on all these unexpected stressful events happening right now, guys, so just be the ones that can adapt and make the most of it.
Get a LinkedIn account because recruiters really check your presence there. That happened with me and my placement search process. My other number one top tip would be to join societies and, where possible get on an executive team because you can learn so many skills, and I really do believe this helped me secure my placement role and also then my graduate role.
