Colleges

At the heart of your Lancaster experience, colleges are your first port of call for everything from support to socialising.

We have nine colleges, each with its own identity. Picking yours usually comes down to the type of place you want to live in and the facilities you need. Each college has its own café bar, social facilities, and events.

Your college is also the first place to go for any support. There are staff on duty around the clock, ready to help, whether it's a friendly word of advice or something more pressing.

You start with your college on day one, and you graduate with your college when you finish. No matter how far you go from Lancaster, you'll always belong to your college.

Accommodation

Your college choice largely depends on your choice of accommodation in your first year. There are a range of options, from en suite to shared facilities, to fully self contained flats. Discover more in our accommodation guide.

Space for you and your friends

All over the campus, you will find free social spaces for you and your friends to hang out, study, eat and have fun.

Sport

Sport can be a big part of your life as a student. Whether you want to get better at the sports you already enjoy or discover new ways to challenge yourself, we’ve got you covered.

Lancaster provides multiple ways of joining in with sport, either on your own, as a member of your college or as a member of one of our many sport societies.

You could also represent the University in the annual Roses tournament – one of the biggest events of the year.

Roses is a whole weekend dedicated to a sporting rivalry between Lancaster and York. Each year, the students' unions from each university take turns hosting Roses - whether from Lancaster or York, everyone is welcome! With over 140 sporting and cultural fixtures across the weekend, events range from eSports to ballroom dancing to American Football.
