Research training

Students registered on Lancaster University distance learning degree schemes may also choose to take research training modules run by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Graduate School.

The Research Training Programme (RTP) consists of modules and short courses on research methods, theories and philosophies, thesis writing and other generic skills relevant to PhD study. The RTP is designed to complement more specialised subject or discipline-based training modules offered by departments.

Free online courses

We run free online courses - sometimes referred to as 'MOOCs' - in partnership with FutureLearn.

They are run at regular intervals and anyone can register online.
