Foundation programmes

If you are from a country where the secondary (High School) education system is broader than that of the UK, or is one year shorter, you may need to take a foundation programme before you are considered ready to enter a UK undergraduate degree programme. A one-year foundation programme will provide you with a wide range of skills to ensure that you are properly prepared to enter a degree programme at Lancaster. You will study English language, study skills, cultural orientation, and some subject content, depending on the degree programme you wish to study.

If you successfully complete a foundation programme at one of our partner universities, Lancaster will make you a conditional offer for an undergraduate degree programme.

Undergraduate programmes

We have a number of undergraduate pathway programmes at our partner institutions. These enable students to enter directly into Year 2 of our undergraduate degree programmes at Lancaster.

During the programmes at our partner institutions you will study English language, study skills, and subject specific modules in the area which you are going to study for your degree. You will then study for a further two years with Lancaster University at our Bailrigg campus, on one of our bachelor's degrees.

Pre-master's programmes

A one-year Pre-Master's Programme (PMP) provides you with the skills necessary for postgraduate study with us. You will build on the knowledge gained in your earlier studies whilst developing your practical English language and academic subject abilities, as well as study and research skills.

A number of our Partner Institutions offer PMP's that are accepted at Lancaster, which prepare graduates for a Master's degree at Lancaster.

Postgraduate programmes

In collaboration with our pathway partners, Lancaster offers Postgraduate Degree Programmes in a variety of subject areas in different countries.

The options are slightly different at each of our partners, so please check what is available at your home institution.
