Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is an internationally renowned research university founded in 1880. With more than 24,000 students, of which 4,088 are international, the university conducts cutting-edge research into problems of societal and scientific importance. We have one of the largest English-taught course offerings for exchange students in mainland Europe.
The university is located in the vibrant city of Amsterdam, one of the most multicultural cities in the world, with the largest concentration of students in The Netherlands and where English is the second most common language spoken. The campus is surrounded by one of the most dynamic and fast-growing business districts in The Netherlands, hosting over 700 companies.
Exchange students are encouraged to follow one of the minor programmes. These are set selections of 5-6 related courses that span the duration of the entire semester. Most of these programmes are interdisciplinary, meaning that they are available to students with a variety of academic backgrounds. One big advantage of selecting a minor programme is that you will never have overlapping courses in your schedule. In addition, most minors focus on a particular study area, making this a valuable addition to your resumé.
