Geoff is a post-doctoral senior research technician and LEC's Plant Sciences Technical Manager and Biological Services Manager. Geoff runs our plant growth facilities and keeps the lab and all our equipment in good order. He is involved in projects on plant defence priming and stomatal regulation.
PhD student. Dom is funded through the Waitrose DTP scheme, and is working with APS Salads to investigate the potential of transgenerational priming as a tool for crop protection in tomato.
PhD student. Cesar is funded through a scholarsip from CONACyT (Mexico) to work with the company Biorganix to investigate the mechanisms by which a plant activator product improves plant disease resistance.
PhD student. Juliana is supervised by myself, John Hardy in Chemistry and David Cheneler in Engineering, along with an external industry partner, and is working in my lab to investigate antimicrobial activities of lignin extracted from plant waste materials.
PhD student. Eduardo is a CASE PhD student working in the North West Bio DTP, with Lightworks Poly as our commerical partner. His project will look at novel non-chemical priming treatments to enhance germinaiton and abiotic stress tolerance in horticultural crops.
Post-doc. Glyn works on an EPSRC project run by Manolis Papaioannou in Engineering and myself and Ian Dodd in LEC. The project is designed to investigate the impacts of root exudates on groth of pea shoots in hydroponic culture ssytems, and the use of membrane filtration to remove harmful and/or valuable exudates from the growth medium.
MSc by Research. Freya is investigation the impacts of plasticizers on root growth and development.
I also co-supervise Miranda Burke, Catherine Walsh and Ed Hill-King who are all PhD students working on a variety of other topics.
