In the new Complete University Guide tables, published today (Wednesday 25 April 2018) Lancaster University also appears in the Top Ten for 18 of the 31 subjects taught at Lancaster.
Lancaster University is currently also the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide University of the Year and is in the top 10 in all three major national league tables. The university is also highly- ranked in international league tables such as the QS World Rankings.
This latest league table result confirms Lancaster’s standing as the leading university in the North West, being consistently highly ranked for teaching, research and student satisfaction.
Science and Technology subjects did particularly well with top ten results for:
- Biological Sciences - 8th, up 9 places
- Chemical Engineering - 6th, up 12 places
- Geography & Environmental Science - 8th, up 1 place
- Physics - 9th, up 2 places

The Main Table is based on ten measures: Student Satisfaction, Research Quality, Research Intensity, Entry Standards, Student: Staff Ratio; Spending on Academic Services; Spending on Student Facilities; Good Honours Degrees; Graduate Prospects and Completion. It includes 131 institutions (129 last year).
The 70 subject tables are based on five measures (Student Satisfaction, Research Quality, Research Intensity, Entry Standards and Graduate Prospects) and include 142 universities, university colleges and specialist higher education institutions (141 last year).
