Mechanical Engineering has continued its upward trend, rising from 7th to 6th in the UK. The Department is particularly proud to be top in the UK for graduate prospects with 96% of students going into graduate level work or further study within six months of graduating.
General Engineering has remained in the top 10 for the third consecutive year and has risen to 7th place from 8th. These two results demonstrate the Department’s commitment to delivering comprehensive, hands-on programmes that properly equip their students for a rewarding career.
Lancaster Environment Centre has also been awarded top 10 success with Geography and Environmental Science moving up from 10th to 9th position. The Department employs distinctive and engaging teaching methods to provide a rich and exciting learning experience, which has been reflected in the overall result. As well as receiving a high score for student satisfaction, the programme also ranked 5th for graduate prospects.
Computer Science has attained another 1st place ranking for graduate prospects, having already been ranked number one in The Times and Sunday Times league tables. It achieved an almost perfect score of 99 out of 100, demonstrating the Department’s commitment to delivering high-level teaching with real-world applications, and excellent industry partnerships.
In addition, Mathematics has been ranked 6th for the quality of research, and Physics has been ranked 8th for graduate prospects and 9th for student satisfaction.
Professor Peter Atkinson, Dean of the Faculty, said: “These top 10 results reflect the quality of the student experience across the Faculty of Science and Technology and underpin the University’s 9th position overall. It is particularly pleasing to see the excellent scores for graduate prospects; ensuring that graduates go on to have excellent careers is a top priority for us.”
Overall, the University has maintained its position in 9th place for the third year running, and remains the top university in the North West, ahead of Manchester and Liverpool.
