Lancaster Physicists are greeted with applause in the Canadian Parliament for their contribution to the Nobel prize-winning research into Neutrinos.

Lancaster Physics academics Drs Laura Kormos and Helen O'Keeffe were among the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) collaborators invited by the Honourable Kirsty Duncan, the Canadian Minister of Science, and the Honourable Geoff Regan, Speaker of the House of Commons to honour Professor Arthur McDonald in recognition of their role in the Nobel-prize winning research on the properties of neutrinos, for which Professor McDonald was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2015.

Dr Kormos attended the ceremony held on March 8th in the House of Parliament in Ottawa Canada, which included statements in the House of Commons by MPs and by the Speaker on the importance of being inspired by scientific curiosity and of the scientific work done by SNO. This was followed by an invitation from the Speaker for the SNO collaborators to rise along with Professor McDonald and be recognized for their work, to a standing ovation from the MPs. A reception in the Speakers Boardroom completed the event.
