The Pre-School Centre received an across the board outstanding Ofsted report in July 2019, for a third time in a row.
Ofsted, the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills inspect and regulate services that care for children and young people, and services providing education and skills for learners of all ages.
In July 2019 Ofsted inspected Lancaster University Pre-School Centre and concluded that "this provision is outstanding". An accolade to the dedicated staff who continuously strive to make the Pre-School a success year on year.
The inspection involved a joint observation with the manager to check the quality of teaching and learning during a range of activities, a tour of the facilities where there was opportunity to speak with parents and children about their experiences with the centre and a thorough look through the relevant documentation and suitability checks for staff. The checks were categorised in to four key criteria; Effectiveness of Leadership and Management, Quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment & Outcomes for Children. The Pre-School Centre achieved the highest possible award for all areas.
The report summarised the inspectors key findings, highly commending the management team and their staff for all their hard work stating; "The highly qualified and experienced management team has a clear vision for the setting and works exceptionally hard to achieve this." and going on to say; "staff actively challenge stereotypical ideals and all children develop a 'can-do' attitude as they try new things."
The report further highlights the highly qualified and well experienced staff team stating “Staff work successfully in providing the highest levels of care and learning for children “ , “… are infectiously enthusiastic and deeply engage children in activities” , ”… are extremely knowledgeable and know children very well”
The facilities were also acknowledged in the report; "Children have access to a superb outdoor area which allows staff to provide an extensive variety of interesting and exciting activities."

The Pre-School is to me, a very important place and each member of the team is both committed and passionate about ensuring we consistently deliver high quality childcare in a nurturing and highly stimulating environment.
