Appointment Process

Vacancies will be advertised and appointed to in line with the University recruitment process. This will be via the Stonefish recruitment system and the recruitment process will be managed by the relevant Faculty teams, with the opportunity for the Department to feed in views to the selection panel for consideration when making the selection decision for HoD appointments.

The recruitment process for Heads of Departments (HoDs) and Associate Deans (ADs) should ideally commence at least 12 months before the start date of the appointment. This gives ample opportunity for the successful candidates to have appropriate time for a handover.

You are eligible for these roles if you are an academic colleague within the Department for HoD roles and within the Faculty for AD roles. You must also hold a substantive post that exceeds the duration of the term of the appointment. Applicants will normally be at professorial level, however appointments will be made depending on the context, objectives and circumstances of the department or faculty at the time and on the skills and experience of particular candidates.

Please refer to the appointment process flowchart for a more detailed overview of the appointment process.
