People and Organisational Effectiveness

We attract, retain, develop, support and reward our people.

At Lancaster University, our People and Organisational Effectiveness (POE) teams consist of a broad and diverse range of in-house expert colleagues including Payroll and Pensions, Organisational Development, Curriculum and Education Development Academy (CEDA), Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), HR Partnering, Employee Relations, Reward Specialists, Global Mobility, Health and Safety, HR Systems as well as our Operational and Strategic HR colleagues.

One of the defining positive characteristics of Lancaster University is its collaborative and cross-disciplinary approach. This is not limited to the work of researchers; it is seen throughout the staff body. Because POE’s work touches every department, faculty, division and all our global campuses we are fundamental to enabling the University’s collective success.

Members in various departments within POE get involved in strategic change management projects across the institution to have a positive impact on our staff community and help deliver our values. For example, Lancaster University’s People and Culture Plan ensures we have the right people, in the right place with the right culture to deliver and achieve the University’s Strategy. This plan is delivered by colleagues across the university.

Colleagues within POE also work collaboratively across the various teams within the division. By doing so, our employees obtain a wider perspective of how their work contributes to that of the whole division, and gain knowledge and experience of other departments. This, combined with our career development support and wealth of opportunities, including support in obtaining various levels of CIPD qualifications, enables our employees huge scope for developing their careers within the people and culture discipline at Lancaster University.
