Established in 2013, Lancaster University Ghana was the first British branch campus in Ghana; its aim to bring together expertise from North Africa and the UK to tackle global challenges. The Accra-based campus is home to a thriving community of students, researchers and academics.
Lancaster University Ghana’s vision is to be a leader in higher education that delivers a research-driven curriculum within a dynamic environment that pushes the boundaries of innovation and engages with contemporary debates.
The approach to learning and teaching focuses on research, innovation, social and environmental consciousness, and the value of collaborative thinking. By integrating theory with case-based study and practical applications, it drives staff and students to adapt to evolving local and global scenarios.

The thriving research community at Lancaster University Ghana has been instrumental in many key projects and initiatives, including RECIRCULATE and the Africa Research and Innovation Partnership.
RECIRCULATE was a £7million project funded by the UK government’s Global Challenges Research Fund, through UK Research and Innovation. The project supported partnership-based approaches to enable African research to solve pressing problems with water use and safety.
The Africa Research and Innovation Partnership involves close collaboration between more than 30 members from academic research, private, policy and community sectors within a dynamic African consortium, to take on significant global challenges.
