Summer graduation ceremonies at Lancaster University begin today in what is a proud moment for students, staff and families as they gather to celebrate success.

A total of 3,400 degrees will be conferred in person at fourteen ceremonies at the Great Hall between July 15 to 19 2024.

Head of Corporate and Ceremonial Events Dr Anna Mackenzie said: “Graduation is the well-established high-point of the academic year and an opportunity for staff across the University to celebrate the achievements of their students, some of whom were studying during the pandemic. We look forward to welcoming back students and their guests and wishing them well in all their future endeavours.”

Five outstanding individuals will receive Honorary Degrees which are awarded to people with a recognised international standing in their field, and to those who have given special service in connection with the University or its regions.

Four former Lancaster students will be given an Alumni Award which recognises Lancaster graduates who have made a substantial contribution in their field and have developed an outstanding national or international reputation amongst their peers.

And several students who have shown exceptional merit in their field will receive Chancellor’s Medals.

There will also be one admission to the Chancellor’s College of Benefactors which is the highest honour the University can bestow upon its supporters, and is a way to give greater recognition to organisations and individuals whose contributions have been truly transformational.
