The arrival of new students at Lancaster University Leipzig marks an important milestone in the university’s plan to build its European campus in Leipzig.

The academic year of 2020/21 starts with more than 40 students who have successfully passed the selective admissions process during the summer.

This new group of students will be living and studying in Leipzig for three or four years depending on the academic track they have chosen.

Lancaster University offers two entry points into its undergraduate programmes either through a Foundation Year (4 year-track) or through direct entry (3-year track).

The study experience is unique and international at the same time as there are now over 25 nationalities on campus. The lectures and seminars will be operated in a hybrid teaching model – on campus as well as technologically aided. This way, we are able to include students who may not be able to travel to Germany on time.

Leipzig’s Academic Dean Dr Mark Brewer said: “As a top 10 UK university with an international reputation for the highest quality research and teaching, we are delighted to welcome all our outstanding, talented student (both those who are new and those who are returning) to our growing Leipzig campus.

“In light of the global pandemic, our main priorities are the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community, and we continue to update our robust procedures in response to ongoing governmental guidance on COVID-19 while simultaneously preparing to offer our students an exceptional learning experience.”
