A high-flying civil servant who works in the Department for International Development has been recognised with an alumni award.
Kathleen Reid is Deputy Head of Office in the Department for International Development’s (DFID) mission in South Sudan.
She graduated from Lancaster University in 1996 with a degree in Geography.
Her career with DFID has involved her in some of the most challenging and hostile environments in the world: Iraq, Afghanistan and now South Sudan.
In 2012 she was awarded the Civilian Service Medal for her work to support the transition to democracy in Afghanistan.
After graduating she went on to further study, then worked in local HMRC offices, and undertook community volunteer work in Ghana, before taking up her career with DFID.
