My day as an MSc Management student at Lancaster University
Posted on

7:30 AM – A Fresh Start
My day begins with the sound of my alarm, and after a few moments of reluctance, I get out of bed. A quick shower and a cup of hot coffee later, I sit down to have breakfast while catching up with my flatmates in the kitchen. We chat about our upcoming classes, weekend plans, and the ever-changing Lancaster weather.
9:00 AM – Lecture: MNGT614 Entrepreneurship: Principles & Practices
The first lecture of the day is one of my favourites—Entrepreneurship: Principles & Practices. The session is divided into two parts. In the first half, we had an insightful talk from an Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR), who shared his journey and the importance of entrepreneurship in life. Hearing firsthand experiences from an entrepreneur made the topic even more engaging. The second half of the session was led by our lecturer, where we delved deeper into entrepreneurial theories, business models, and real-world applications. It was an inspiring and interactive class.
11:00 AM – Research Session at the Library
After the lecture, I headed to the library to work on my upcoming projects and reports. With multiple coursework deadlines approaching, it was the perfect time to dive into research. Lancaster’s library provides a great study environment, and I managed to gather valuable information for my assignments while enjoying the quiet and focused atmosphere.
1:00 PM – Lunch at Friends Café & a Sweet Stop
After a productive study session, it was time for a well-deserved lunch break. My friends and I decided to go to Friends Café, where we had a delicious meal while catching up on the day. On my way to my next session, I made a quick stop at the Marketplace to grab some brownies for dessert—by the way, their brownies are absolutely delicious!
2:30 PM – Group Meeting: Strategic Management Project
The next stop was a group meeting for our Strategic Management project. We spent the session analysing the issues faced by a company and brainstorming frameworks to identify and address them. Discussions like these are always insightful, as each team member brings unique perspectives to the table. Group projects are a great way to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.
4:00 PM – Careers Workshop: LinkedIn & Networking
In the afternoon, I attended a careers workshop focused on LinkedIn networking. The session covered how to use LinkedIn effectively, strategies to expand our professional network, and tips to make our profiles more professional and impactful. It was an incredibly useful session, especially for students looking to build connections and explore job opportunities.
5:00 PM – Badminton with Friends
After a long day of classes and meetings, I headed to the Sports Centre with my friends for a fun badminton session. It was a great way to unwind, stay active, and enjoy some friendly competition. Playing sports is always a good way to refresh the mind after a busy day.
7:00 PM – Dinner and Relaxation
Back at my accommodation, I usually cook something simple like pasta or stir-fry, but this time I made Thai curry with mushrooms along with my flatmates. Cooking together was a fun and social experience. After dinner, we watched a Netflix series and had a great time relaxing and enjoying each other's company.
9:00 PM – Studying at the Library
Lancaster’s library is one of my favourite places on campus. It’s quiet and has plenty of study spaces. I like to spend an hour reviewing lecture notes, preparing for upcoming assignments, and catching up on readings. The postgraduate study area is a great spot for focused work.
11:00 PM – Winding Down
Before heading to bed, I played a very soothing playlist while sipping on a warm cup of chamomile tea. It’s a small ritual that helps me relax after a long day. Chamomile tea is not only healthy but also helps with sleep and creates a sense of calmness. With my mind at ease, I finally call it a day, ready to take on another exciting day at Lancaster University.
