Lancaster University is ranked one of the best places in the world to study Geography and Environmental Sciences in the 2017 QS World University Rankings by Subject
The QS World University Rankings by Subject identify the world’s elite universities for 46 subjects based on academic reputation and employability.
Lancaster University was placed in the top 100 universities worldwide for both Geography and Environmental Sciences.
The most high performing universities in 126 countries were evaluated for the rankings. As well as analysing research papers and citations, QS carries out two global surveys, of academics and employers.
Academics were asked to identify the institutions doing the best work within their own field and employers were asked which universities produce the best, most employable graduates in a particular discipline. For Geography 5000 academics and 390 employers responded to the survey while for Environmental Sciences 5320 academics and 800 employers responded.
Professor Peter Atkinson, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, said:
“The QS World Rankings reflect both world-leading quality and international recognition and it is pleasing to see several of the departments in the Faculty of Science and Technology recognised in this way. The future strategy of the Faculty includes a focus on internationalisation and developing strategic international partnerships”
