UG Dissertations 2016: To what extent do the consent provisions of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 provide adequate protection to victims of rape?
Lok Wai Ho graduated in July 2016 with a first class honours. He is currently preparing for the Hong Kong Conversion Exams and will start working as a paralegal in Hong Kong next year before pursuing a career as a lawyer. His dissertation was supervised by Dr Georgina Firth.

Allan Douglas graduated with an upper second class honours degree from the Law LL.B programme in July 2016. Allan will be commencing the BPTC at Manchester Metropolitan University in September 2016. His dissertation was supervised by Dr. Sarah Beresford.

UG Dissertations 2016: Would a Universal Basic Income better satisfy the UK's international obligations regarding the Right to Social Security under the ICESCR?
Luke Graham graduated with a First-Class Honours degree from the Law LL.B programme in July 2016. Luke’s dissertation focused on a comparative evaluation of an ideologically different approach to social security and was approached through the lens of international human rights law. Luke will be commencing an LLM in International Human Rights Law at Lancaster in October 2016. His dissertation was supervised by Dr Amanda Cahill-Ripley.

My Time in the Law School
My time at Lancaster University has been truly fantastic. Having never studied law before, and with having no family from a legal background, I was naturally a little apprehensive about embarking on a law degree. Looking back now, it is amazing how far I have come in the past three years.

My Year Abroad Experience in France
I am currently studying combination of French and Law at Lancaster University. This degree programme takes 4 years and a compulsory part of it is a year abroad. Although it sounds terrifying and intimidating on the first sight (and believe me, it was at the very beginning) it was probably the best year I experienced during my uni life so far.

UG Dissertations: The Right to Be Forgotten
Catherine Travers graduated with a first class Law (LL.B) degree, she is currently employed as a case handler within the insurance department of Lloyds Bank. Her dissertation was supervised by Dr Catherine Easton.

UG Dissertations: Do contemporary counter-terrorism laws adequately strike the balance between state security and human rights?
Lucy Mellor completed the Law LLB (Hons) degree programme and graduated in July 2015 with First-Class Honours. She is currently employed as a paralegal within the Clinical/Medical Negligence department at Slater and Gordon (UK) LLP’s Manchester based offices. She works under the supervision of a Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners commended Partner on high value and maximum severity cases, including complex cerebral palsy, neonatal deaths and actions against private and NHS practitioners under the Fatal Accidents Act. She retains a keen interest in Human Rights and Employment Law, and am looking to apply for training contracts now she has confirmed that she enjoys work concerned with people as opposed to that which is commercial in nature.
