Some significant changes are being introduced to parking in Health Innovation campus, effective from 1 October 2023.

Introduction of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)

• ANPR will be introduced to the HIC car park. This will remove the requirement for designated staff / visitor parking zones and will affect all users of this car parking area.
• A grace period of 30 minutes will be in operation to facilitate dropping off, picking up and deliveries.

Staff Parking

• Staff who usually purchase an annual parking permit will need to ensure all the vehicles they use to commute to work are registered when they purchase their permit through flexible benefits. Up to 5 vehicles can be registered on any one permit provided only one of the vehicles is parked on campus at any given time. Staff parking will be available in any space on HIC (except accessible and EV bays) as there will be no designated staff or visitor zones.
• Staff should continue to purchase their annual permit via the flexible benefits scheme, the deadline to apply is 5pm on 5 September 2023.
• Staff who usually purchase scratch cards will be unable to park at HIC due to their vehicles not being recognised via ANPR. The nearest car park accessible to HIC for scratch card users is car park Lb located by the bowling green. Please note this does NOT include the car park at the front of the Sports Centre which is Car Park La. Click here to view the campus parking map.
• Staff can make use the visitor parking facility but they would need to download the RingGo app and the charge would be at the daily visitor rate.

Visitor parking

• All visitor parking charges at the HIC car park will be payable via the RingGo smart phone app.
• Visitors will be required to download the app and follow the instructions to pay charges.
• Further instructions on the use of the app will be provided by RingGo and will be communicated before the system change-over.
• Visitor parking scratch cards will not be valid at HIC. The nearest car park accessible to HIC for visitor scratch card users is Car Park Lb by the bowling green or any visitor space on campus.
