Charles Carter Acoustic Survey to take place

Charles Carter foyer

An acoustic survey will take place in rooms A16 and A17 in the Charles Carter building on Friday 31st March between 4pm and 8pm. The survey will be carried out by a specialist acoustics, noise and vibration testing consultancy agency, and is likely to result in high levels of broadband noise being generated on A floor in A16/A17 with some residual noise expected throughout the building.

Broadband noise, also known as wideband noise, is noise whose sound energy is distributed over a wide section of the audible range. In this instance the broadband noise created will be continuous steady noise generated in each chosen source room using a single loudspeaker, with sound pressure levels measured in the source and receiving rooms. Charles Carter bookable spaces will be out of access to all building users during this time. While unlikely, it is possible that there may also be some minor residual noise disturbance to the surrounding buildings.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this acoustic survey. If you require further information in relation to this project or accessing Charles Carter during this time, please direct enquiries to the Facilities Communications inbox: facilitiescommunication@lancaster.ac.uk.
