Access through Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) from the South Spine entrance/exit to the LUMS Hub will close on Tuesday 2 July at 10am as work starts on the LUMS East Estate Redevelopment project. An accessible diversion route will be in place from the Spine along the side of the Charles Charter building to the main entrance of LUMS for the duration of the project, which aims to complete towards the end of 2025. View this route on Mazemap.

Lecture Theatres

1-3 and 5-8 will be temporarily closed from Tuesday 2 July until the beginning of Michaelmas term 2024.

4 and 9-12 will be closed from Tuesday 2 July until the project completes towards the end of 2025.

LUMS Porters’ Lodge will be relocated to George Fox. View on Mazemap.

The Prayer Room currently located adjacent to LUMS Hub will close on Friday 26 July and will be relocated to Furness LG22 from Monday 29 July. View on Mazemap.

Grizedale Avenue

Grizedale Avenue will close on Monday 22 July to enable the contractor to set up a storage compound and site office. Accessible parking spaces in this area will be moved to the end of George Fox Avenue, as near to the Spine as possible. Once the compound is in place, fencing will be installed around the outside of the LUMS East Estate and a site office compound will be created in the quad between LUMS and Engineering One. Parking and access to Gillow Avenue will be unaffected by the work.

Bin store access

Bin store 33 (Grizedale Avenue West) will be closed, bin store 34 will remain open for residences and bin store 35 (LUMS) will remain open for LUMS use.

Cycle parking

Cycle parking will remain open on Grizedale Avenue but it will only be accessible from the south side on the footpath.

LUMS Hub internal partition

Once the contractors have set up their site compound the first phase of works will involve building a full height internal partition across the Hub area to separate the work site in LUMS East from the rest of the Management School to enable staff and students to continue using the space. Construction of the partition will start on Monday 29 July and there will be noise disruption and vehicle movement for approximately 7 weeks. There will be no access to the lower Hub area or ramp during this work but once the partition wall is complete the Hub area and ramp will reopen. The Hub Café and Staff Lounge will remain closed throughout the project.

LUMS West Pavilion will be open as usual and unaffected by the work.

We appreciate your co-operation and apologise for any disruption caused while we work to redevelop LUMS East, you can find out more about the project on the webpages or contact the Facilities Helpdesk: 01524 593333, facilities.helpdesk@lancaster.ac.uk.
