Bowland Main Access Control Upgrade Works

Bowland Main quad

A programme of works to install an upgraded access control system, replacing the current obsolete system, to a series of doors on A and B Floors in Bowland Main will take place from Monday 20th November. The works are expected to continue until April 2024, due in-part to forced University closures during the Christmas and Easter breaks, however the contractor and project team will look to improve on this where possible.

The works will necessitate the closure of some doors in Bowland Main and the partial closure of others for short durations, whilst directly being worked on by Contractor Operatives throughout the course of the project. The construction team will ensure that alternative accessible routes are maintained when door use is completely restricted, and we kindly ask for your understanding and patience whilst these works are undertaken.

Due to the nature of the works, there will be some localised and intermittent noise disruption which may include drilling and hammering at each door being worked on, however the construction team will endeavour to limit disruption as much as possible. Where there is a concern over noise due to important meetings or planned events, please contact the Facilities Helpdesk, ideally in advance, and we will endeavour to assist further. A notice of the works will be signposted at each door which is scheduled to be worked on, and in stairwells and common areas throughout the building.

We apologise for any disruption caused while we work to improve building access and security. For more information regarding this project, updates and other current and upcoming works across campus please visit News | Lancaster University or contact the Facilities Helpdesk 01524 593333 facilities.helpdesk@lancaster.ac.uk.
