This seminar will introduce talks from two of our graduating students.
Dr Jane Lowers will be presenting on Developing a Research Portfolio: Adults Aging Solo with Dementia. Jane Lowers is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Palliative Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to receiving her PhD from Lancaster in 2020, Jane had a long career as a medical journalist. Her work at Emory includes clinical trials to test models of palliative care delivery for multiple conditions, and a growing portfolio of work focused on people living alone with dementia. Most recently, she spent a year as a Health and Aging Policy Fellow.
Dr Naveen Salins will be presenting on Interdisciplinary Integration of Health Research. Naveen Salins is dual-trained in internal and palliative medicine, PhD in palliative care from Lancaster and FRCP from Royal Colleges of London and Glasgow. He is currently the professor of palliative medicine and associate dean for research at Manipal Academy of Higher Education. His area of interest is in ICU Palliative Care. At the graduation ceremony in December, Dr Salins will receive the ‘Award for Outstanding Alumni 2024’ from Lancaster University, recognising his international work in palliative care after completing his PhD.
