Event Details

Join Lancaster Arts for a conversation about grief and place followed by an audio walk featuring women in Lancaster talking about their experiences of grief, created by artist Fabiola Santana.

Following the walk, there will be an opportunity for further shared reflection over refreshments back at the Library – feel free to engage with all of the day of just individual elements.

Fabiola has been working with women in Lancaster to share and explore their experiences of grief since first being commissioned by Lancaster Arts in 2018, and worked closely with the International Observatory of End of Life Care. In the Spring of 2022 her exhibition ‘A Place for Grief’ was installed in St John’s Church as part of an Historic England programme in partnership with Lancaster City Council. She will be joined by academics whose work explores different aspects for grief and loss, as we question together what it means to experience loss not just of people but of places, and how these individual stories can become shared experiences.
