Unfortunately, Lancaster University is unable to assist in arranging a diagnostic assessment for Autism. If you are seeking an Autism diagnosis or diagnostic assessment, then please contact your GP. Please be advised that this can be a lengthy process so we would recommend that you start enquiries with your GP as soon as possible.
The National Autistic Society (NAS) has some useful pre-diagnosis information for adults, on their website. This includes guidance and information on things you might like to consider before your GP appointment and areas you might light to highlight to your GP. It also provides details about the diagnostic assessment process for adults, and what to expect.
If you are going through the process of a diagnostic assessment (also referred to as being on the ‘diagnostic pathway’) but do not yet have a diagnosis, there are several services and resources at Lancaster University that you may wish to explore:
- Resources on our student portal
- Student Wellbeing Partnership Service
- Learning Developers
- Assistive Technology
- Student Mental Health Service
We cannot implement reasonable adjustments without reviewing medical evidence of a diagnosed long-term condition or disability as described by the Equality Act (2010). You can find out more information on website about registering with the Disability and Inclusive Practice Service and providing evidence of a disability.
