The IAA Open Call is now closed

Funding to promote impact acceleration projects across arts & humanities and engineering & physical sciences. This call is not interdisciplinary (though we still encourage that approach in proposals) but there is a single application process across both the AHRC and EPSRC remits.

1. Summary

  • Opportunity Status: Closed 24/5/24
  • Funders: Lancaster’s Impact Acceleration Account (an institutional award from UKRI)
  • Total Fund: Up to ~£300,000 available (£150,000 for both EPSRC and AHRC)
  • Grant size: Up to £20,000 but smaller awards of <£5,000 are also encouraged. Amounts over £20,000 will be considered on an exceptional basis (with the expectation of a 1:1 cash match) but please discuss these with the IAA Manager in advance.
  • Opening Date: 22nd March
  • Closing Date: 24th May

This call is part of Lancaster’s Impact Acceleration Account programme (2022-2025) and is designed to support projects that generate impact by applying research into real world settings with an external partner. This is an open call across either the arts and humanities or engineering and physical sciences remits. Though interdisciplinary projects are still encouraged, it is not a mandatory requirement as part of this call. See the eligibility criteria below for further explanation.

The full cost of your activity can be up to £20,000, but we also encourage projects to submit applications for lesser amounts for small-scale, pilot activity. The IAA will cover 100% of direct costs.

2. IAA open call webinars

We ran two (identical) online webinars for this IAA open call, covering:

  • Introduction and context to the IAA programme
  • Examples of successful IAA projects
  • Activity and costs eligibility
  • What we're looking for in IAA projects
  • How to apply and advice for submitting the case for support

The PowerPoint presentation of the session.

Faculty Partnership/Business Development Managers may be able to support applications (including reviewing drafts etc.) but we do ask our panel members to offer informal/generic advice only, rather than detailed appraisal of potential proposals. The IAA Manager(s) are also available for more generic advice about the IAA programme. For a list of projects awarded in the last round see: Joint IAA Call Projects.
