Sheila's Passionate Spirit
Born and brought up in Orpington, Kent, Sheila now lives and works in Warwick with her husband David, their son Jamie and daughter Abigail. Her first published novel, Mystical Circles, is psychological suspense; and her new novel, A Passionate Spirit, is a paranormal thriller. Both novels are set in the Cotswolds.
After Lancaster, Sheila began her working life assisting the producer of religious schools programmes at the BBC. Since then, her workplaces have included the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Universities of London, Queensland and Warwick and the European School of Osteopathy. “They have all furnished me with raw material for my novels,” she says. “My first inspiration as a writer came from an early love of reading; this of course lay behind my choice of English Literature as my degree subject at Lancaster.”
Sheila got her ideas for A Passionate Spirit from many sources: “the ghostly encounters in my book are all based on real stories, one of which is from my sister Julia who, several years ago, experienced paranormal activity while babysitting.” Among the reviews for A Passionate Spirit is this one by fellow Matador author David Smith: an insidious menace develops... characters interact in... increasingly sinister ways... last sections are very fast-paced... with some nicely-worked twists. One to read with the lights on and door bolted in a cosy Cotswold cottage!
Mystical Circles and A Passionate Spirit are available online as ebooks and paperbacks. Signed copies of both books can be ordered direct from Sheila at http://www.scskillman.co.uk
