I was appointed by LOCOG as a technical official (judge/referee) for the athletics events at the Olympic Games and returned to carry out the same role at the Paralympic Games.

Marge Ainsley (English Language, 2000, Bowland)

As a freelance arts marketer I was involved with three London 2012 Cultural Olympiad projects - Stories of the World, Artists taking the Lead and the London 2012 Festival. My role was about supporting the marketing and evaluation of these participatory projects on a regional basis which included close liaison with artists, museums, the Arts Council and London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG).

Jack Kenny (Economics, 2011, Grizedale)

I worked in the HR department for LOCOG within the workforce planning team. My job title was Workforce Scheduling Co-ordinator and I worked with many functional areas in planning workforce for the Olympics and Paralympics whether it was paid, volunteer or contractor workforce members.

Catherine Eastham (BBA Management, 1993, Furness)

In 2004 I began working in the Marketing Department of the British Olympic Association (BOA) managing sponsor relations, promotions and major events such as the Olympic Torch Relay. In October 2004 I moved across to the London 2012 bid team to help out with marketing projects for a few months.

Early in 2005 I began freelancing working with sports organisations and sponsors including McDonalds on its Olympic Day Run. I moved to a sports marketing agency (brandRapport) in 2006 heading up Olympic sponsorships for B&Q, Panasonic and Lenovo (amongst others), where I worked on my second Olympic Torch Relay. In 2011, excited by the prospect of working on one of the biggest and best London 2012 partnerships, I moved to Four Communications as an Associate Director leading the PR campaign for Lloyds Banking Group and also worked on marketing and communications with the Olympic Park Legacy Company, the United States Olympic Committee, the BUCS Outdoor Athletics Championships (Olympic Stadium test event) and the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. I'm so excited to have worked on my third Olympic Torch Relay and third summer Olympic Games.

Catherine Smith (English, 2002, Cartmel)

I work for the Haymarket Network who produced the Olympic programmes for the organisers, LOCOG, and on the commemorative programmes. It was all a pretty big process to coordinate!

Toby Hiles (MSc European Environmental Policy & Regulations, 1997, Graduate)

My role as City Operations Cluster Manager for Olympic Park was to lead a team ensuring the co-ordination and effective delivery of multi-stakeholder operations around the Olympic Park competition and non-competition venues including spectator movement from transport hubs to venues – referred to as the ‘Last Mile’. Key stakeholder relationships were with IOC, IPC, UK Government, Met Police, the Mayor's Office, Transport for London, London Boroughs of Newham, Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest and event organisers Live Nation and Scipmylo.

Katherine O’Connor (MA Marketing Management, 2000, Graduate)

I worked as the NW Business Lead for the 2012 Games until March. I worked with north west companies who had won contracts promoting them through case studies and ran over 20 events to encourage businesses to become involved in contracting with the public sector for major events. There have been some great NW companies involved.

Joanne Hodgson (English Literature, 2005, Bowland)

My partner and I were both lucky enough to be volunteering and loved every second! I was at Horse Guards Parade and he was based in the Olympic Park. We are both Lancaster undergraduate and postgraduate alumni.

Kate Banks (Psychology, 2003, Grizedale)

I used my First Response medical qualifications at a walk-in centre where a GP, nurses and paramedic volunteers were all on call to treat anything from blisters to broken limbs. My story was used as part of a national newspaper feature at the time of the Games.
