David Hodgson - Olympic Ceremony Performer

David studied History and graduated in 1989. He was a member of Furness College.

I graduated with BA Honours in History in 1989 (Furness College) and was a member of Court for several years. I was in the first 25 min "rush-hour" segment of the Olympic Closing Ceremony performing with the likes of Madness and the Pet Shop Boys- you will see from the photo I played a Vicar (I am a civil servant in real life!) The atmosphere in the stadium was incredible, the highlight was joining Ray Davies of the Kinks for a rendition of "Waterloo Sunset" in the middle of the arena as thousands of flashbulbs went off around the crowd, culminating in us leaving through the stadium and greeting members of the audience as we left - brilliant! I do some acting in my spare time and following the Olympics I was in a play at the Lyric Hammersmith in London - equally as enjoyable, though to slightly smaller audiences!
