Saima Ashraf MBE is a leader in public finance, a dedicated disability advocate, and a champion of community inclusion. From being the first blind student at Lancaster University Management School to becoming the UK’s first registered blind Chartered Public Finance Accountant, her journey is a testament to resilience, self-advocacy, and breaking barriers.
Saima has devoted her career to ensuring accessibility and inclusion for others. As Chair of the Disability Support Network for Merseyside Police, she works to influence change both within the force and nationally. Her contributions to disability advocacy have earned her numerous accolades, including Merseyside Police’s Employee of the Year and Inspirational Person of the Year at the Disability in Policing Conference. In 2024, she was awarded an MBE for her outstanding services to policing.
Her story is one of determination, self-belief, and the power of speaking up. From advocating for her own support needs at Lancaster to reshaping policies for future generations, Saima’s experiences offer valuable insights into leadership, resilience, and driving change.
