Transport service from Manchester Airport to Lancaster University

About the service

  • Bookings for this service are free of charge.
  • Transport between Manchester Airport and Lancaster University campus will be in the form of coaches, meaning that you will travel with other students.
  • Each student must book their own space – please do not book a space on behalf of a friend. You can book up to 2 spaces for guests who do not attend the university if they are accompanying you on your arrival to campus. These must be booked at the time of your booking.
  • You will need your email address and College name in order to make a booking.
  • You can bring 2 pieces of hold luggage (i.e. 2 suitcases) and 1 piece of hand luggage.
  • Student Ambassadors from Lancaster University will be positioned at a meeting point in Manchester Airport and will escort you to the coach.
  • The travel time from the airport to campus is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  • If you miss your transfer please contact us and we will try to arrange an alternative time or method. However, if you contact us more than 2 hours after the last advertised shuttle time we will be unable to provide transport and will refer you to public transport services.

From Terminal 1

  • Please follow signs for All onward travel, this will lead you past the SPAR shop and outside.
  • There are lifts and escalators to your right where the sign above directs to The Station.
  • Once exiting the lift turn left and keep following signs for The Station and Terminal 2.
  • Follow signs for Buses & Coaches.
  • Once you arrive opposite Caffe Nero and WHSmith, there is a lift to your right. Go down one floor and our desk will be situated here.

From Terminal 2

  • Please turn right when exiting arrivals and follow signs for Taxi ranks/Hotels & hotel buses/The Station.
  • Once you see M&S Simply Food to your right you will turn left and head outside.
  • Turn right and keep walking until you reach Door 5 where you will re-enter the building.
  • Keep following signs for Train and Bus Station. You will reach a lift on your left to go up 1 floor to departures.
  • Turn left when leaving the lift and follow signs for Train and Bus Station.
  • Signs for The Station will the lead you to Caffe Nero and WHSmith on your left.
  • There is a lift opposite the walkway which will lead you down to the area where our desk will be situated.

Check in

  • Our friendly Student Ambassadors will be present and will be identifiable by red clothing.
  • Please note our staff and Ambassadors will arrive at the airport at around 9AM.
  • The Ambassadors will scan your QR and take your name - you do not need a ticket as your details are already recorded so please do not worry about this. If you cannot find your QR again please do not worry.
  • You will be provided with a boarding pass and luggage labels. You will then wait for your chosen coach in the seating area.
  • Please ensure that you have allowed the recommended length of time between your flight arrival and choice of coach time.
