Stop Public Sector Cuts
Wednesday 8th December 2010
On a cold and damp winter day members of Lancaster University UCU marched with colleagues from the University of Cumbria, students from both universities and local school and college students in advance of the vote to increase tuition fees. The march went from Dalton Square to Market Square where local shoppers were, in general, very supportive of the protest.

On Saturday 4th December members of Lancaster UCU joined a march in Lancaster against public sector cuts. The event was organised by Lancaster and Morecambe Against The Cuts, an umbrella organisation of trades unions, voluntary and community groups, to protest the unfairness of the outcome of the government's spending review which they believe is set to widen the gap between rich and poor.
Around 400 people marched through Lancaster to Dalton Square where they heard from a number of speakers including students, teachers, and a local disability rights campaigner.
Lancaster UCU is joining forces with LUSU to campaign against the proposed increase in fees. More information will follow soon.
