Dissertation Reading

The reading you do for your dissertation is for you to decide with advice from your supervisor.

In general the reading is both wider and more in-depth than for an essay, but do be careful that you do not spend too long reading without making notes, summarizing positions, reflecting on and writing responses to what you read. As always with philosophy, thorough and thoughtful reading of fewer texts is better than skimming many. Also do be sure to keep track of all your references and publication details - it can take as long to track down one missed page number or publication date than it does to set up a system for keeping track of everything at the beginning.
