Lancaster University lies approximately three miles south of the City of Lancaster. The campus is easily accessible via road, rail and bicycle and is within 70 miles of Manchester's International Airport. The full Lancaster University travel guide can be found here. By Car

The main access to Lancaster is via the M6, the university is on the south side of Lancaster and is accessed by leaving the M6 at junction 33. Once you have left the motorway take the A6 north towards Lancaster. For the main campus, turn right at the third set of traffic lights and there are directions to the Reception Lodge.

Car parking is available on the University campus. Daily visitor parking passes (scratchcards) may be purchased for £5 a day. These are available from the Cashiers Desk in University House.

By Rail

Lancaster train station is on the West Coast Main Line, with frequent services. Throughout the day the train station has frequent bus services, the 3A and X4 every 30 minutes (hourly in evenings), which take about 20 minutes to get to the university.

There is also a taxi rank outside of the train station, which is accessed from Platform 3. In case there are no taxis, local taxi services can be contacted on: +44 (0)1524 32090; +44 (0)1524 35666 and +44(0)1524 848848. A taxi from the station to the University generally costs £8.

Further buses are available from the bus station in Lancaster City Centre (Damside Street), a 5 minute walk from the train station. Buses (services 2, 2A, 3, 3A, 4, 42) leave for the University every five-ten minutes on weekdays and most services also stop at Common Garden Street (city centre map).

By Air

Manchester airport is 70 miles away and has frequent domestic and international services. There is a train station at the airport with direct services to Lancaster.

Liverpool airport provides frequent domestic and international services. However, there is no direct train from the airport to Lancaster. Either a shuttle bus or taxi is required to get to Liverpool Lime Street and then a train to Lancaster can be taken, with a change at Wigan North Western.
