From Crosslands towards to Gatebeck
Fox possibly went down from Crosslands to Gatebeck and the road along the valley bottom to Preston Patrick (to the south). Nowadays it goes under the M6, which can be seen in this photograph over the rise of the field. He may however have taken a route down the current B6254, and branched off lower down on the road to West View and Warth: see next photograph.
