Doctoral Consortium
The Networked Learning Conference 2016 doctoral consortium provides an opportunity for PhD students to discuss and explore their research ideas, to practice presentation at an international conference and to get feedback from active and senior researchers in networked learning (NL).
It starts with pre-conference sessions on Sunday 8th May 2016 from 3.00pm-6.00pm and on Monday 9th May 2016 from 9.00am-12.00pm. To gain the most from this consortium opportunity, you should aim to attend both sessions. An initial abstract needs to be submitted for these sessions. However, during the sessions, it is recommended that you present your work using a poster. During the conference, in a poster session that will be advertised in the programme, all conference participants will be able to view your poster and offer thoughts and questions using post-it notes. A later session during the conference, lasting one hour, will provide opportunity for further review and reflection.
Participation
Students who are currently enrolled in any stage of doctoral studies with a focus on NL research can apply. The doctoral consortium will be led by a senior researcher, Professor Don Passey, and other key researchers attending the sessions will be announced in due course.
Requirements
PhD students are required to submit an extended abstract (with short literature review, methodology, results or expected results), up to 2 pages in length including references. You are also asked to submit a short Curriculum Vita (CV) including a statement about your expected benefits of participation for both yourself and the other consortium participants (i.e. what you will contribute as well as gain), up to a maximum length of half a page (together with your photo-image if you wish). Abstracts will be reviewed, and revisions may be requested prior to acceptance. Accepted abstracts will be published in an online doctoral consortium proceedings. Students who submit full papers to the conference may also submit a different extended abstract for the doctoral consortium, but if the doctoral consortium is overbooked, then preference will be given to those not submitting to the conference.
A list of PhD students registered and with accepted submitted extended abstracts and CV by 1st March 2016 will be listed on the website, giving days and times for poster presentation, in advance of the conference.
Registration and submission
For PhD students, the registration fee for the conference includes access to the doctoral consortium.
You should upload your extended abstract and short CV as seperate documents. Your extended abstract and short CV should be in Microsoft Word format, using 12pt font Times New Roman.

Location
The first consortium meetings, which will explore the idea of NL and early career research, will take place before the main conference, during the afternoon on Sunday 8th May 2016 from 3.00pm-6.00pm, and during the morning on Monday 9th May 2016 from 9.00am-12.00pm at Lancaster House Hotel.
