Keynote SpeakersMichele RobertsProfessor of Creative Writing, University of East Anglia Title: "getting a/cross god." Winner of the 1992 WH Smith Literary Award and Booker Prize short-listed nominee, ( Daughters of the House, 1992) and recipient in 2000 of the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (France). Michele Roberts, acclaimed novelist, poet and feminist has published over ten novels. Her work, by her own admission, is about “food, sex and God”. Her most recent novel, Reader, I married him, was published n 2005.
Ursula KingProfessor Emerita, Senior Research Fellow and Associate Member of the Institute of Advanced Studies, University of Bristol and Professorial Research Associate, Centre for Gender and Religions Research, SOAS Title: 'Gendering the Spirit' Reading Women's Spiritualities with a Comparative Mirror Ursula King has published widely on women, world religions and spiritualities.
David JasperProfessor in Literature and Theology, University of Glasgow Title: "Do not hide your face from me" (Psalm 27): The Sacred and the Profane Body in Art and Modern Literature David Jasper's work focuses on the interplay between literature, culture and theology. He has published extensively on these themes and also sits on the editorial board for The Journal of Literature and Theology. His most recent publication is entitled The Sacred Desert: Religion, Literature, Art and Culture (2004). |
