Finden

Edward Finden (1791-1857). Engraver. The brother of W. Finden. His first work with Turner consisted of a single plate for The Literary Souvenir (1828). His other engraved work after Turner is confined mainly to two publications: Byron's Life and Works (1832-33), and Finden's Landscape Illustrations of the Bible (1836). He was not one of Turner's regular 'school' of engravers (see Turner's engravings), and his work has been described as 'not as refined or strong' as that of the vignettes in Rogers's Italy (1830), Rogers's Poems (1834), or Milton's Poetical Works (1835) (see Piggott, Turner's Vignettes, pp. 45-46, and p.28).
